In 6 dagen half Australië door

Ik heb van Relinde de gegevens doorgekregen van de reis die ze met Herbert gaat maken vanaf woensdag 16 mei. Het betreft een 6 daagse reis per (mini)bus naar Alice Springs. Als je op de kaart klikt krijg je een kaart van Google waar de overnachtingsplaatsen op staan (met meer detail).

De reis ziet er als volgt uit:

Day 1 - Adelaide to Parachilna
Leaving Adelaide we travel through Clare Valley then continue on to Kanyaka Homestead the Flinders Ranges. We stop and view rock art at Yourambulla Caves before heading for our overnight dorm accommodation at Parachilna. (LD)

Day 2 - Flinders Ranges & Wilpena Pound
Enjoy a scenic drive through Parachilna Gorge before arriving at Wilpena Pound, the jewel of the Flinders Ranges. Pull out the hiking boots for a guided climb of Mt Ohlssen-Bagge and you will be rewarded with fantastic views over the ranges, the desert and Lake Torrens. After lunch, we travel to remote Rawnsley Park sheep station where we stay overnight in dorms. (BLD)

Day 3 - Rawnsley Park to Coober Pedy
We travel to Coober Pedy then take a town and opal mine tour with a chance to go opal fossicking (time permitting). We stay in an underground bunkhouse in Coober Pedy. (NB. upgrade to Hotel accommodation is available at own expense) (BLD)

Day 4 - Coober Pedy to Uluru
We drive through rugged desert country to Yulara for the sunset at Uluru (Ayers Rock) then view the stars in our overnight permanent camp at Yulara. (BLD)

Day 5 - Uluru to Kata Tjuta & Kings Canyon
Up early for the Uluru sunrise where you can enjoy a base walk or choose to climb Uluru, then take a guided interpretive walk at Mala. We visit Kata Tjuta(Olgas) and head to Kings Canyon for our overnight camp. (BLD)

Day 6 - Kings Canyon to Alice Springs

Explore Kings Canyon, including the breathtaking North and South walls, ‘The Lost City’, and ‘Garden of Eden’ . After lunch we depart for Alice Springs viewing the rugged desert scenery along the way. (BL)

Het vervolg is inmiddels ook (ongeveer) bekend:

• op 23 mei vliegen naar Cairns. Aldaar een verblijf van 5 dagen met uitstapjes naar: Greet Barrier Reef, Dagje Beach, Port Douglas, Cape Tribulation
• op 29 mei waarschijnlijk vliegen naar Sydney. Twee dagen in de stad en een dagje naar de Blue Mountains.
• 2 juni: naar huis
